Saturday February 20 2021
Just trying to get a breather after a few weeks of storms with some of the coldest air of the season. Under full sunshine today, most of our region remains near or below freezing. So you might imagine how cold it may get tonight. The good news is we remain quiet on Sunday, but watching a quick hit of snow on Monday, and the timing will be critical. Then, the rest of next week brings in the warmest air we’ve had in a while.
Saturday Morning Surface Weather
Temperatures
Afternoon
Most of the region will remain near or below freezing.
Sunday Morning
If BWI can drop into the teens, it will be the first time since January 30.
Sunday Afternoon
Still cold, but the cities and bay area should push the mid 30s.
Monday Snow
This will be a quick hit, and the timing is critical. As of now, it appears to arrive mid morning, after sunrise. But we have had a tendency for storms to show up a few hours early. If this arrives before sunrise, then the impact on roads would be greater.
Coming off of a cold weekend, we will still be looking at a little stickage anyway.

This shows the arrival by 10 AM, but I will watch to see if that can speed up as early as 7 AM in the western suburbs.
What Kind Of Snow Are We Talking Here?
This looks like a 1 to 3 incher. I will fine tune this and give my call for snowfall later.
Temperature Outlook
Notice the Monday high reaches the upper 30s… with snow ending as rain Then we aim for close to 60ºF by Wednesday.
Baltimore last hit the 60s FIVE TIMES IN DECEMBER!
