There have been some new developments in a wild ride we have ahead. I also want to thank you for your patience during the surge of traffic overwhelming my server.  My tech team continues to work on it.

This weekend we get the influence of the first of three storms.  This morning there is fog, and some spotty showers could develop at any time.  Temperatures will reach the mid 50s to near 60ºF this weekend.

Dense Fog Advisory

On the way

Storms 2 and 3 will be progressively colder. Slushy snow in the northern suburbs on Monday, but a larger and colder storm brings accumulating snow on Wednesday, followed by sustained winter air.

Morning Surface Weather

Areas of morning fog.  Some rain showers and mild 50s. If you get to 60ºF it would be with some breaks of sun.

Morning Temperatures 

Most of our region is in the 40s, but some interior areas are in the 30s. So the fog, could be frosty.

Behind that storm, temps are in the 20s and teens. THAT COLD AIR is what will be feeding into the next two storms heading our way.  We will get into the really cold stuff with the 3rd storm Wednesday and Thursday.

Jumping To The Main Weather Events:

Monday Snow (Slushy and Inland)

This is Storm 2 of , and will be tracking north enough to link up with cold air aloft. Snow in the northern suburbs. However, the surface temperatures are expected to remain above freezing this time.

The Big Event: Storm 3

It now looks like the European Solution is the best one. That includes:

• Later arrival during Wednesday afternoon.
• More mixing in urban areas.
• More snow on the back end overnight into Thursday morning.

I want to show you the GFS (American Model) first. Why? This is where most of your weather apps get their data from. So you could have a big snowflake on there, when it may start as rain or a mix at first.
