Fall Foliage Report October 23 Maryland Pennsylvania West Virginia and Virginia

As we enter the final full weekend of October, it looks like some of the best color is now in most central metro areas. I captured this photo on Lake Williams in York County on Thursday October 22. There was a lot of gold and orange. The region overall appears to be in peak color through the weekend.

 

On Lake Redman, the other lake in William Kain Park, there was a little more red in the main parking lot.

 

This weekend the loop color will be in the inland suburbs of Baltimore and northern Maryland to southern Pennsylvania.

According to Maryland’s DNR:  There has been significant leaf drop in Garrett County due to recent wind and rain.  The top colors have shifted closer to metro areas.

Deep Creek Web Cam – From Railey Realty

Here’s a look at a live web came from Railey on Deep Creek Lake. The water holds heat longer, so there may be more color in other parts of the county.

This web cam is located at The Greene Turtle Deep Creek Lake. It will pivot to show Wisp Resort, including a zoomed-in view of Squirrel Cage, The Face, the terrain park, Boulder, the mountain coaster, the tubing park and a shot of McHenry Cove at Deep Creek Lake!

Approaching Best Color:

Metro Philadelphia

 

Best Color:

Most of the state south/east of I-81 and metro Pittsburgh. This includes Gettysburg, Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Reading, and Allentown.

 

Starting to Fade:

Mid State and State College to Western PA and Erie.

 

Past Peak

Northern Tier border with New York, including the Endless Mountain Region north of the main Poconos.
