Tornado Storm Report from February 7 2020
When temperatures went from nearly 60ºF to the 30s and 40s, it was a strong cold front that made the transition. In fact for some areas of Maryland they literally went from a tornado to snow! The National Weather Service (NWS) has completed the storm survey and determined that 5 Tornadoes touched down in Maryland, plus one just one the line in Virginia on Friday February 7 2020.
This is a new state record for the month. Prior to this event, only FOUR tornadoes are on record for any February in Maryland.
Note, a typical year results in about 10 tornado touchdowns for Maryland.
This post has the NWS repots, new video and photos. My prior report has the doppler radar images and archive loop, plus additional damage photos.
Tornado Touchdowns:
One cluster came form the same cell that starting in Leesburg, VA and ending in Manchester in northern Carroll County.
- Montgomery County had a stripe of damage in Boyds and Dickerson.
- Frederick County has damage in the eastern part in Monrovia/Green Valley.
- Carroll County has the longest touchdown between Westminster and Manchester.
One separate cell hit Cecil County in Elkton
