Sunday December 1 2019
The Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled in Maryland as temperatures remained just above freezing. Southern PA still has the Advisory, but any icing will be spotty as shown with the temperatures below. The winds shifted to the southeast and as a result, slightly warmer air remained in place. This proves the error in the modeling I mentioned in my winter outlook and will be applied for the rest of winter in my forecasts.
We still have some heavy, chilly rain on the way, and there will still be some travel problems to our north. That storm will bring in colder air and snow showers Monday into Tuesday morning. See the radar simulations below.
Headlines
- Rain most of our region
- Wet Ravens Game. High Temps Mid 40s
- Icy Or Snowy Travel: North of Harrisburg (I-78 and I-81 to the Poconos and central NY), metro New York City and New England.
- Monday Snow Showers drop south. The reach central Maryland.
- Temperatures drop to freezing Monday night.
Sunday Morning Conditions
Temperatures
Freezing temperatures circled in purple. There is some rain already, but the ground is above freezing in most spots.
Winds
The southeast wind direction is what has prevented the colder air from spilling in this far south.
