Wednesday October 30 2019
The weather maps this morning show what this storm already is a big deal. Snow between Denver and Chicago is one thing, but let’s start with these temperatures! Record cold in the northern Rockies demonstrates the pattern change this intense storm will bring. Single Digits and below zero near and north of Denver will not reach us, but it will fuel the storm, strong winds, and possible lightning on Halloween night.
Please scroll down for the timeline including the radar simulation, winds, lightning, and how our temperatures will drop by Friday morning.

Rain Wednesday Evening To Friday Morning
Showers arrive this evening with steady rain tonight into Thursday morning. Expect the rain to break during Halloween day, then a squall line at night. My point for days has been that timing with systems has been faster than models had shown. That will prove itself, but will it be too fast?
The squall line may arrive in Maryland any time after sunset. This will have winds gusting to 50 mph and possible lightning. Trick or Treating will start warm in the 70s, but west of the Bay may need to end early.

The Squall Line
My concern is that if this arrives sooner than these models show, it could clip some trick or treating in areas west of the cities. Even before the rain and possible lightning, the winds will be gusting hard. This will be more widespread and will make some costumes uncomfortable and decorations fly around.
Winds
Strong winds average 15 to 25 mph, but will be gusting up to 50 mph ahead of the squall line. This will felt hours ahead of the strongest rain line.
