Friday October 11 2019
Temperatures are seasonal this morning and for most of our region will be warming nicely this weekend. However, I will be heading to The Autumn Glory Festival in Garrett County, where a cold front will highlight how the state of Maryland can have a wide variety of weather. The weather forecast for rain showers in the mountains will drop Saturday afternoon temps into the 40s, while cities around Baltimore will be in the 70s. Then a second wave of rain showers will develop on Sunday in southern Maryland and Delmarva.
There is a lot of cold air in the western half of the nation, and this is what will clip our mountains. Nothing like the abrupt snowfall near Denver and into The Dakotas, but a signal that the chill is expanding and will eventually spill our way.
Morning Temperatures
Look at widespread teens and 20s in the western plains and Rocky Mountains.
A surge of 60s ahead of the rain in the Mid West, which is the warm up pushing our way today.

Today: High Temperatures
Comparing western Maryland’s McHenry to Baltimore: A spread of less than 10 degrees this afternoon. Most metro areas range from the upper 60s to lower 70s
Saturday: Morning ‘Low’ Temperatures
Comparing the state there will not be much of a spread, but the morning numbers in the mountains will be the highs for the day. Central Maryland to Delmarva will warm up nicely.
Saturday Rain
The best chance for rain will be in the mountains between Oakland and McHenry to Hagerstown. Showers will break up farther east. The rain will be from mid morning through early afternoon.
An isolated shower might reach the suburbs north of Baltimore mid afternoon.
Saturday: High Temperatures
Comparing western Maryland’s McHenry to Baltimore: A spread of 30 degrees in the afternoon. Most metro areas range from the upper 60s to lower 70s, but the mountains will be falling into the 40s. Maybe wearing my FITF at the Autumn Glory parade will actually be appropriate.
Sunday: Rain
The second wave of light rain and showers will be in southern Maryland and Delmarva. Central Maryland could miss out of most of the action.
Rain Outlook
The next appreciable rain will be on Wednesday.
Temperature Outlook
These temperatures are for Baltimore. You can drop an average of 5 degrees for the inland suburbs west and north of the city.
