We are still two weeks away from autumn and the atmosphere is trying to make the most of late summer. The sun angle and intensity today is the same as early April, but there is a lot of retained heat from the lat few months still left to spread our way. Today will be reasonable and late seasonal lower to middle 80s. But the shift in the winds will allow a push of 90s to reach the Mid Atlantic Wednesday and Thursday.

The next cold front timing is still spread among models, but some showers are expected late Wednesday. Then more Thursday into early Friday, followed by a brief cool down. More heat returns for a second surge over the weekend.
