Thursday September 12 2019

Today will be the last day of our mini heat wave and it will end with some strong storms this evening. The uncomfortable temperatures have already led to some schools planning to close early in Baltimore, and the city is on alert with the visit from President Trump later today.  Tomorrow an abrupt change with some lingering showers and a drop of nearly 20 degrees in temperatures.

The risk of storms turning severe is ‘slight’ but that still means a few could produce damaging winds and hail. As we saw yesterday, frequent dangers lighting might be the greatest risk.

Weather Headlines

  • Today will be hot: Temps in the Mid 90s

  • Friday: Cooler 70s
  • Weekend: Warning back up, some lingering showers

  • Tropics: Cluster of storms heading for Bahamas with 70% chance of getting named in 5 days

Weekend Outlook

We can’t rule out showers hanging around through the weekend as the front stalls.

Temperature Outlook

Check out the drop of nearly 20 degrees on Friday. This will be with an easterly wind that will come with more clouds and some possible showers. The heat builds back this weekend and might reach the 90s again early next week.

Tropical Outlook

Heavy rain and winds expected for the Bahamas today and Friday.  There is a split whether this turns up the East Coast or into the Gulf of Mexico. This is worth watching through the weekend.
