Temperatues and soared and the high humidity have combined for dangerous heat index values. The maps below show the latest numbers at 3 PM and many areas feel well above 100ºF. We will have a break tomorrow but Friday through the weekend some places already have an Excessive Heat Watch.

The other factor are storms. Some have fired and I believe are ahead of schedule. But below is a look at the radar simulation to show how storms could travel through this evening.

Temperatures (The actual reading on thermometers)

Look how many places re over 100ºF

Annapolis and places along the Potomac River are near or above 110ºF

Storms

Doppler Radar at 3 PM

This is a little more developed at this time than modeling suggested. The storms are moving to the northeast, but the line is moving to the east.

  • This is NOT perfect, but a suggestion how storms may develop and travel through tonight.
  • Timing appears to be 2 hours later than will verify. So subtract 2 hours from the time stamp for a better idea near you.
  • There is a chance for storms to turn severe with damaging winds and large hail.
  • Any storm can produce dangerous lightning and flash flooding thanks to the high moisture content.
