Saturday May 4 2019

Yes, today is May the Fourth, Star Wars Day. We won’t see many stars and it might be a better weekend to spend a few hours in a theater watching the Avengers. I know, none of that fits, but perhaps we fit in a few hours of dry weather before the storms return later today and heavy rain overnight.

Another round of severe storms to our south will spread up into parts of the Mid Atlantic. Our region is on the edge of Marginal Risk for any cell to turn severe.

We will have some storms later today and tonight, but perhaps the main story this weekend will be the heavy rain.  A Flood Watch is currently in place for central Maryland for tonight into Sunday morning.

Rain Forecast

I expect this to be expanded as heavy rain between 1 and 3 inches is likely to be more widespread.

Weather Today

There have been some showers and a lot more fog this morning. Most of the day will be cloudy and mild. But another cluster of storms will develop to our west this afternoon and evening. This timeline shows the best chance for metro areas to get stormy will be this evening and tonight.

Rain is more likely to come heavy overnight and into Sunday morning. Low Pressure will be developing over our region and take some of the leftover storms from our south to redistribute the rain for us.  While we could get some lulls, shower are likely to be with us into the afternoon as well.
