Saturday April 27 2019

The eruption of severe storms yesterday is already gone, and we do have another storm on the way that might be more interesting. Our weekend starts off cooler and dry, but we have a Wind Advisory in place west of the Chesapeake Bay and Susquehanna River in PA. Winds will be strongest this morning and could gust up to 50 mph. But the next storm we need to touch on will bring heavy snow to the Great Lakes states today and into northern PA and central New York Sunday morning.

Morning Set Up

It’s windy for us between the departing storm and the new one heading to the Great Lakes. That storm will bring us rain tonight and Sunday. But scroll down to see the snow impact to our north.

Late Season Winter Storm

A Winter Storm Warning is in place around Chicago where up to 6 inches of snow may fall. This may be the latest snow storm on record for the city…

Faith in the late April Flakes

Here is the GFS Model snow forecast showing the impact of snow into Northern PA and central NY. This is one of many models with a variety of accumulation expected. Due to the warm ground, this should not be a road issue, but very impressive. For the record, I was working in Binghamton, NY when a late season snow storm brought 3 to 5 inches to the northern Poconos on Mother’s Day Weekend in 1996. It does happen sometimes.
