The first snow storm of 2019 in the Mid Atlantic was an overachiever by a long shot. But as of Sunday evening, the snow totals are still coming in and there is a chance for BWI along with other locations to break the record snowfall for the date. But the latest evening count of snow totals is on the interactive weather map here.
Note: There is still snow falling with additional accumulation. Also, there has been a delay in some snow reporting from The National Weather Service offices. This may be in part due to less staffing in the government shutdown.
Baltimore’s BWI reported:
- 6.4″ of snow, but that was at 7 PM. Snow was still accumulating for hours after this report
- 4.6″ was from today.
- 7.8” was the record for Jan 13 set in 1964. This has a chance of being broken
Washington DC reported:
- 7.3″ to 9″ in the district
Annapolis: Over 7 inches
Howard, Montgomery, and PG Counties in MD: 6″ to 12″
Snow Winner (so far)
- 11.2″ The top report from Four Corners in Montgomery County
There are many other spotter reports that may be outdated or missing. The list from the Baltimore Washington office is below the map. There are three other offices that cover our area. These include: State College in PA, Mount Holly/Phildadelphia for Delmarva, and Wakefield VA for southern Maryland and southeast VA.
