Thursday January 10 2019

Some may wake up to a coating of snow after a potent band that slide by last night. There are a few flurries this morning as the strong winds will be gusting up to 50 mph this morning. That will take the temperatures and make them feel at least 10 degrees colder. A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of our area until 1 PM, but remain gusty through this evening. Then we can focus on the weekend snow, which will be cold enough to stick and enough to shovel.

Quick Storm Notes:

  • Wind Advisory Today: Gusts to 50 mph
  • Wind Chills in the teens and 20s

Weekend Storm:

  • Light Snow develops Saturday afternoon to evening.
  • Moderate Snow: Sunday (location dependent)
  • Temps below freezing = Snow Stickage
  • Totals: Region Wide LIKELY 2 to 4 inches

Wind Chill Advisory:

Southern PA and northern MD. This includes metro Baltimore up to York. East to Cecil Co and Wilmington. West to the mountains.

Doppler Radar: Morning Flurries

New Partner

I’d like to welcome Buchanan Kia of Westminster: Now a supporter of Just In Power Kids and Maryland Trek 6 in August 2019. Soon we will be showing you why we developed this relationship with a local business that my wife and I sincerely trust.

This Afternoon (As The Advisory Ends)

Temperatures: Afternoon

Wind Chills:

This is a model estimate on steady winds. The gusts may knock chills to the teens at times in metro areas.

Weekend Storm

I like the display from the Canadian Model (I will show more to contrast in my afternoon update).

Saturday brings overrunning region wide snow.

Flurries and light snow develops Saturday afternoon and evening.

Impact on the roads through Saturday night

Sunday Morning:

A second surge with developing Low Pressure. This is location dependent. While models show this to our south, I am waiting for a shift closer. That is the part that can increase snow amounts. There should be an impact on the roads in the morning and perhaps into the afternoon.

Sunday night/Monday: There may be lingering flurries and snow showers
