Rain is already in place and temperatures may not move much all day.  Expect a wet and chilly day and many areas will test the soggy soil with more possible flooding. It will be wet and stay chilly in the lower 60s in Baltimore for the Ravens game. The heaviest rain will be in southern Maryland with up to 5 inches, while another band of heavy rain on the north end through Pennsylvania. The steady rain will break up to showers tomorrow but still could be heavy. The system will stall and fade over our region as we continue to watch Florence regain intensity and likely to be off of the east coast later this week.

Afternoon Temperatures

Most areas near and north of Baltimore will stay cool all day. Ravens game temps likely to stay in the lower to middle 60s. The warmer spots in southern Maryland are in the heaviest rain zone too.

Notice the steady rain breaking up to showers… then the last frame shows Hurricane Florence off of the coast Thursday morning.

 

Florence Forecast

As of 5 AM this was still a tropical storm with 70 mph winds. But expected to regain hurricane intensity today and threaten the North Carolina coast later this week. I will have a more specific Florence post next… But here is the dilemma.  While models have shown more agreement on the path… The ECMWF is faster than the GFS. That is the main reason it shows landfall Thursday near Wilmington, while GFS shows the storm a day later closer to Cape Hatteras. Both show the potential to nearly stall… but where can make a big difference.
