August 1 2018 2 PM

We have a slight risk for severe storms today along the front ridge of the mountains. The high humidity and a little sunlight wil make for strong storms, some which may contain damaging winds and large hail. We already have a storm producing heavy rain and intense lightning around Hagerstown MD. This storm is a little stronger than the high resolution model has indicated mid day. Below is the comparison of how this storm is developing and where it may move. There wil be others into this evening….

Please note that as shown here, the HRRR Model has not given this storm full credit, so we may expect slightly more activity than show in the slider.

2 Hour Radar Loop: Ending 1:55 PM

Doppler Radar Snapshot at 2 PM

The track shows this expanding north into Adams County PA

The southern part of the line is moving more to the east and should reach Frederick in the next hour. The we will see if it hugs the west side of Carroll County or perhaps penetrates into Westminster by 3 PM.

Radar Simulation —> slider

This starts at 2 PM but notice this simulation is not as impressive than the actual radar above.
