Thursday August 2 2018

Here we go again. The atmosphere is getting charged up to dump more rain, and some of that will be heavy. The Flash Flood Watch is for areas west of the Chesapeake Bay and up to souther Pennsylvania. A few rounds of storms will range between noon and midnight, with the bulk actually falling west and north of Baltimore. There will be more rain first in the mountains, western suburbs, and into PA. Then it will shift to the metro areas by evening and tonight. The potential is for between 1 to 3 inches of rainfall.

I do not believe the modeling as the past two days has shown more activity in the evenings than suggested. Last night the storms led to tree damage in Hartford County and storms that expanded overnight. So the simulation I show below is just potential and not a promise. The main idea is that heavier rain will fall north and west, and that we have one more day of this… but some improvement for the weekend.
