Tuesday August 14

Our third day of Maryland Trek 4 at the Western Maryland Rail Trail in Hancock for James Panizari starts. We start the day with a fundraising total of $27,929 for Cool Kids Campaign. We can’t thank you enough but we have more work to do and more kids to honor as we aim for our goal. My team today includes Ross Sober and Rebecca Cirner again. She is still representing our snowtick with FITF for this winter. Jaime Sullivan is back again and joining us now is Sisou Armstrong- both representing the team from Tri Sport Junction. William Gifft has also met up with the team and he alone has raised over $1,100.  Our live tracking has been fixed and you can see our progress on our Trek page.

This will be a longer day totaling 53 miles. Since this is the ‘skinny part’ of Maryland, the only direct road to the east is the Interstate we can’t use. So, the first 10 miles will be on the Western Maryland Rail Trail by bike.  Then we will link up with our crew at Big Pool and get back on our feet for 27 miles of hiking. Today’s marathon will get us to mile 100 of the journey. I am looking forward to Devil’s Backbone Waterfall. Then we will be back on the back in Boonsboro and work our way over South Mountain to Frederick.

James Panizari

James, known as Lj to many, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in August of 2016, three days after his 14th birthday.  He has one of the biggest hearts and genuinely cares about the well being of others around him.  He loves playing video games, soccer, watching WWE, and spending time with his family.  His tremendous strength continues to shine through as he goes through treatment, weathering not just the storm that comes with battling cancer, but the aftermath of the effects of chemo.

Please consider helping us show James that we support his strength and courage in his fight.
