Sunday July 9
Today will be as good as it gets for mid July. Sunshine and low humidity will make for a great, warm day to be outside. Mid to upper 80s for most, with lower 80s in souther PA. I use the word warm sparingly because this is the time of year it can, should, and will get downright hot! Mid July may be when days get a little shorter and the sun gets a little lower in the sky, but climatologically is when we see our hottest temps. Today begins a 9 day stretch when temperatures average 88ºF, the hottest all year for Baltimore. Monday July 10 for example hosts the hottest temperature Baltimore ever recorded, 107ºF in 1936. We will not get that hot, but it will be hot compared to this weekend.
What about rain?
It is summer and it is supposed to be hot. I get that! So how about the inevitable drying out of the soil and your outdoor plans. We thread the needle on needing more rain but also not wanting it at the wrong tine. It looks like as the heat returns, there will be some showers popping up Monday mid day, and then Tuesday afternoon. The organized ‘stuff’ seems to hold off until the end of the week, but with the high heat, any storm could become strong each afternoon.
Your phone app may show showers each day, but that does not mean you will get it. Check out how scattered the rain appears on the GFS Model depiction here:

About The Heat:
The Upper Level pattern shows the building heat this week, but also a break after the weekend. The rain threat should move out by Saturday, and next week should be cooler. But not all models agree on the temps.
