Monday May 29 – This morning’s Doppler Radar at 7:30 AM showed a band of storms in Pennsylvania. This appears to be holding on a track near and north of York. Some other showers in the western Maryland mountains near Deep Creek Lake and northern Virginia. It is hard to consider today an improvement as many of us start with clouds and some fog, but less rain is expected today. Less is a start, right?

There will be breaks of sun while plenty of clouds hang around. But it will be warmer. Temperatures will reach around 80ºF for Baltimore. Mid 80s in souther Maryland and upper 70s in southern Pennsylvania.

Chance of storms today?

I am purposely NOT showing the radar simulation slider because it has been operating poorly. This time stamp at 3 PM does highlight a disturbance that will try to tip off some scattered T’storms. Do not expect this to be precisely where they develop, but the general area around I-83 and I-95 should see a few showers and storms mid afternoon.

Wet End To May?

This will go down as one of the wettest Mays on record. Baltimore’s BWI has recorded 19 days this month with some form of rainfall. The past 7 days in a row have had weather weather.  It looks like the next two may have some more.  An unsettled pattern will be stuck over our region with marginal risk for strong thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday. Gradually temperatures will beholding closer to 80ºF.
