Saturday May 27 –
A large portion of the central US is under the threat of severe storms today. This region will be dealing with large hail and a widespread tornado outbreak. I am showing this because our region is on the northern edge, just out of rain for this activity. The movement of the rain will be to the east and then dropping southeast.
Our area of central Maryland and southern PA to DE will get showers on the outer edge… in two waves today. This morning will bring showers to many before noon. Then a break for a few hours, with afternoon thunderstorms firing up. Temperatures will range from the lower 70s for most of central Maryland to upper 60s near and north of the PA line. Just on our southern edge, including southeast Virginia could get clipped with severe weather by evening. The radar simulation is below.
Skipping ahead:
- Sunday: This looks OK. Most of the day should be dry with storms developing in the mountains and moving our way by late afternoon. I would plan for evening and overnight to be west for most of us. Highs in the mid 70s
- Memorial Day Monday: Morning rain and storms, but afternoon clearing as temps should get back to the 80s.

Please note that this model is overly sensitive. The rain may not be a heavy as shown here, but I am sharing for the timing and tracking purpose.

Afternoon Temps
Compare this to the severe outlook above. The best chance for the worst storms will be where temps reach the 80s.
Wide View
The flow will be from west to east and then dropping southeast
