Monday April 24 – The slow moving storm in the southern US is gradually working in our direction. After getting lucky with a nice Sunday, the rain has returned overnight and showers are with us this morning. A chilly northeast wind with more rain will keep much of central Maryland and Delaware in the 50s today, while it could be milder to the north in PA. Check out the satellite loop and maps below as the rain could be heavier Tuesday, nut the storm ‘should be’ moving away Wednesday morning.  Then… April extreme weather flips will live up to its reputation as summer heat will arrive for next weekend.

High Temperatures Today

The east to northeast wind from the Atlantic and Chesapeake, combined with more rain earlier… will keep temps in the 50s for much of Maryland and Delaware

Satellite: Water Vapor Loop

Two circulation to focus on here: The tight, slow moving circulation in Alabama is fueling the surface Low, but the wider circulation shows the slow movement of the overall pattern. Plus the plum of subtropical moisture being pulled north our way…

Storm Smart: My STEM Assembly Program

Click here to see the details and how this educational program is also a fundraiser for schools. We can start scheduling for May now.

Get the award winning Kid Weather App I made with my oldest son and support our love for science, weather, and technology. Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
