Thursday March 30 – It looks like March is going out like a lion with a round of severe storms reaching their peak in the MidWest, west of the Ohio Valley, then sending some of that energy our way for Friday. Supercells wth large hail and damaging winds are expected, but the profile for tornadoes is marginal. Some may develop, but the chances for an outbreak are lower than it looked just a day ago.  The severe storm risk will be weakened tomorrow, but still marginal for parts of Maryland and Delaware. Heavy rain with the thunderstorms will be our main story Friday, as it could make a dent into our moderate drought. Then gradual clearing over the weekend (after Saturday morning). The other thing with this storm will be the heavy snow in central and northern New England as winter is still hanging on there.

As if often the case, storms peak to our west, then the remnant energy crossing the mountains is what we get a day later. So only a marginal risk of severe storms Friday, but still worth watching as a secondary Low Pressure will be forming right on top of us. See the timeline maps below:

Weather Note:

Today will start with sun but clouds will be increasing. Temperatures will reach the mid 50s, then rain reaches us Friday.

Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
