Monday January 30 – The snow squalls that spread across our area today were enough to remind many that winter is still here. Some areas got a coating of snow, and one intense band crossed I-83 in York County leading to a fatal multi car accident. There is danger with changing weather conditions. The fear of that might have been what led Baltimore County to cancel all after school activities. But all of the snow showers are done. Temperatures are near freezing, and will drop tonight. See those maps below. But no new weather conditions expected in Maryland this evening.  The next wave of snow will be after midnight and affect the northern part of our region.

As we discussed for a few days, and Alberta clipper type system will be passing to our north. That will bring the edge of the snow to Frederick, Westminster, northern Baltimore County. The typical ‘north and west’ areas from Baltimore. Southern Pennsylvania has a chance to pick up a coating to 1 inch of new snow, and possibly have an impact on their morning commute and schools.  Here is a quick look. Below are two snapshots at the potential winter storm on Super Bowl Sunday evening…. for party planning purposes.

Snow will stick on the pavement in those areas, so roads may be slick in the morning.
