May 26 2016 – We really turned the corner to summer in a hurry. This is the type of day you have to feel for teachers and students in schools without AC. I’ve been to some of those schools and they bake. We have a tendency to warm up more than initial outlooks suggest. Well, today and tomorrow will make a run for 90°F and the relief from storms looks to more likely west in the mountains and maybe a piece arriving tonight. What we watch over the next few days will be an increase in humidity, which will take the temps back a bit over the holiday weekend and bring more scattered storms. Memorial Day itself looks the be the stormiest for us. The one caveat will be potential tropical development off the southeast coast being monitored by the National Hurricane Center. It looks far away from the Mid Atlantic, but the impact can be on ocean waves and increasing winds off the ocean.

Notice the cluster of storms in the mountains of western Maryland ride into south central PA with a piece clipping central Maryland.
Tropical Development?
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring the storm off of the southeast coast with a 60% chance of tropical development within 5 days. That does not mean a tropical storm, but could be a depression. This does not look large, and appears to be confined to South Carolina, but with watching as it could meander up the coast next week.
Here’s the wide view on Memorial Day
The general southeast flow is what will increase our threat for rain near the Chesapeake Bay.

Temperature Outlook
A run for 90°F over the next two days. The drop in temps will be due to an increase in humidity and clouds.
