RecordLowApr6April 6 2016 – At 5 AM Baltimore’s BWI dropped to a low temperature of 24°F, breaking the old mark by two degrees when it was 26°F in 1898. That is 118 years old and an impressive accomplishment.  We will bounce off of the bottom quickly as the winds shift to the south today. But we are not done with the cold. There will be more extreme swings over the next few days as rain and thunderstorms will arrive with temps between 65°F and 70°F Thursday. Then another cold surge this weekend as the jet stream takes on a winter pattern dipping far to the south arriving with snow showers on Saturday.

It should be noted that there are many farms in central and southern Maryland that had an early start to their growing season. These cold snaps and freezing temps are bad news for their prosperity, and there will be more danger through the weekend.

Below is a look, which includes some normalcy returning next week.
