Friday February 26- Today is picking up where yesterday left off. Strong winds and some flurries, most of which are confined north and west of Baltimore. But don’t be surprised if you see a stray flake early. The winds will be blustery with temperatures staying in the 30s this afternoon keeping the wind chill 20s.  But the wind will ease, the sun will return, and this weekend will warm up. Perfect timing if you are looking for something to do Saturday as the Maryland Store in Westminster has set up a FITF display. I will be joining them to help kick it off, so it would be great if you can come out and say hi. Then we warm up for a bit. In fact it might feel like spring by the end of the weekend.

First, the winds. Here is a look at the timeline today, showing the blustery day, but an improvement this evening. It will remain cold, but better if you have plans to go out tonight.

Saturday: Faith in the Flakes At the Maryland Store

MDStoreDisplayPatty Bridner, the owner of The Maryland Store has been a huge supporter of the Faith in the Flakes craze.  In fact just as I was working to put the Maryland flag on the ‘flake’ I was looking for ideas of how to lay it out in her booth at the Wine Festival in Westminster.  Now, she has set up a display in her store and we will be kicking it off this weekend. I will be there to celebrate and hopefully meet you between noon and 2 PM on Saturday. There will be

  • shirts
  • car decals (shiny and reflective)
  • coffee mugs
  • hats
  • snow sticks
  • more to come

Where: 2200 Sykesville Rd. (RT. 32) Westminster, MD 21157

This is a beautiful building- an old church less than 5 minutes south of downtown Westminster.

When: Saturday Feb 27 Noon to 2 PM

If you love wearing your Maryland flag, there is so much more to explore here. I encourage you to take a look as Patty started this 17 years ago.

March In Like A Lamb

It looks like the two weather systems next week will pass well to our north. This will help a warming weather pattern for a few more days. So we may have to wait a little longer for snow… but like the saying goes, “March in like a lamb, out like a lion”.

Here’s a look at the temperature trend showing the warm up. But it will cool down after the second storm passes next week. A snapshot of the two storm tracks below.
