Here is a quick look at the latest high resolution modeling for this event. I want this to help you make your decisions for evening travel. The upper level energy (vort max) is about to cross the mountains, and the showers in central Maryland to the coast will be flaring up on the north side of it. There were lightning strikes detected with the main line in western PA earlier this afternoon! This will be a quick, but intense event. Please keep in mind: This may start as rain, a mix, or snow by you… but end as snow. Initially it will not stick on roads, and may not by you. Even the grass getting a dusting will be more likely near Baltimore, north and west. But the flash freeze is a real concern. The winds will charge the cold air in quickly. Remember the Wind Advisory posted for this evening.

Hourly Temperatures
Note that the drop below freezing will make icing a potential issue for Frederick, Carroll, parts of Howard, Baltimore, and Harford Counties. Also in York and Lancaster Counties PA. Around I-95 and near the Bay the cold air will be delayed an added hour or so. But we all get deep into the freeze by midnight.
