You may have had a clear sky this morning to see the triple moon triangle formation in the east, but clouds will be moving in for a few days. The remains of Patricia have produced record rain and flooding along the Gulf Coast, and the core central pressure is moving inland from Louisiana. While this will stay well west of Maryland, the combination of the strongest mid level winds on the east side and increasing winds from the east off of the Atlantic and Chesapeake will enhance the rain for us by Wednesday morning. At this time it looks like we could be in for 1 to 2 inches, but embedded thunderstorms could crank that higher in spots. Note that this heavy rain shield does continue to shift a little east.
The jury is still out for the severe storm risk in part due to the timing. The heaviest rain will by Wednesday morning for central Maryland and Pennsylvania. But energy will be available should the timing line up with some heat of the day. Temperatures will get back to 70F and there will be a sense of tropical moisture in the air for a few days. I’ll post more specific details of the hourly timeline later today. Here is the quick look at how this will play out.
