After days of onshore winds, waves off the beach reaching 15 feet high, winds gusting to 50 mph, and four inches of rain, the drain system in Ocean City, MD just could not handle the storm. This view on 139th street shows how the dunes and protective fencing was overtaken. I think Christopher David was going out to see the beach and it came to him. I wanted to start off with this picture as another result of what is hitting. See more photos below as warnings continue for high surf, coastal flooding, and strong winds.
Video
You will have to look closely at this video, but past that stop sign is a kayaker in northern Ocean City. This is from Matt Greben’s phone. I asked him and anyone else who gets great weather video to please turn sideways for landscape view.
The Ocean City Inlet was closed, and this parking lot is under water. High tide was just after noon Saturday, and this high water came from above and the sea next door. Mary Miller didn’t say how she got there for this picture, but it was worth it as the clouds briefly broke allowing for a colorful sky. The rain did return after this.
The water was almost up to the sea wall on the boardwalk.
Up the coast to Delaware and the water was pounding on Indian River Inlet as well. Thanks Angela Tenaglia.
Up the Chesapeake Bay, just past the Bay Bridge Sandy Point Park was closed off and reduced to sea gulls and sand bars. Thanks Deborah Felmey
