The storm of the year is hitting the east coast and it is already proving to be impressive with an entire weekend to go. The impacts are really from an upper level Low in the southeast US, but credit is falsely going to the Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin that is in The Bahamas and will end up taking a trip well offshore. This complex pattern has been building waves for the past two days, and that will continue for the next two days.
Here is a collection of the top 10 photos at the beach so far. There are in no particular order, but captured the impact of blowing wind, water, waves, and sand. Flooding form rain and onshore flow has closed beaches and roads in Ocean City. Forecast as shown earlier calls for winds to gust to 60 mph with waves possibly 10 to 15 feet by the beaches. See the impact from three local photographers below, in no particular order. But first the open ocean waves just offshore are even higher than expected.
