Screen Shot2015-09-10 14_41_10The heavy rain extended farther south into central Maryland as mentioned in my last post. What was unexpected was the apparent circulation enhancing the rain, and a new Flash Flood Warning in Baltimore County. The National Weather Service initially posted this for a small area around Hampton, Carney and Loch Raven until 5:15 PM.  Doppler Radar has indicated rain up to 3 inches, which is too much for drainage to handle. But has expanded that for the general Towson area until 5:30 PM. This includes:

GUILFORD...HOWARD PARK...ROLAND PARK...FALLSTAFF...WHITE MARSH...
  PERRY HALL...LOCHEARN...CARNEY...PARKVILLE...HAMPTON...TOWSON...
  ROSSVILLE...LUTHERVILLE-TIMONIUM...RUXTON...DRUID HILLS PARK...GLEN
  ARM...MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY...EUDOWOOD...FULLERTON AND LOCH RAVEN
  VILLAGE.

This rain and circulation imagery is response to upper level spin or vorticity shows up like a mesocale-Low over Baltimore and York counties. This has helped to increase the rain intensity, and might be a wave eddy response to the front slowing down with resistance near the Chesapeake Bay.

Is this rain ahead of schedule? Earlier I suggested the heaviest rain after 3 PM. This obviously arrive before that. See the Marine Warning image I posted on Facebook when this first developed. Here is the latest HRRR Model Simulated Radar that might be an hour or two behind the real event. So adjust that accordingly. After this wave, there will be a break for a few hours. Then we watch one last rain cluster arrive from Virginia for later tonight. This should be done before daybreak Friday.
