Another one… The National Weather Service has posted a Flash Flood Warning for central Anne Arundel County until 6 PM. Doppler Radar has indicated that between 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen on top of Annapolis at the Naval Academy. The WeatherBug station at St. Mary’s Elementary School is reporting 3.45″ recorded by the rain gauge. The surrounding areas included with flooding:
SEVERN RIVER...SOUTH RIVER...LONDONTOWNE...ARNOLD...PAROLE... HIGHLAND BEACH...CAPE ARTHUR...EASTPORT...SHERWOOD FOREST...BAY RIDGE...EDGEWATER BEACH...CAPE ST. CLAIRE...NAVY-MARINE CORPS STADIUM...EDGEWATER...BELVEDERE HEIGHTS AND HILLSMERE SHORES.
This looks like another one of those vortices. Spin up circulations I mentioned earlier that looks like a meso-Low. That has helped enhance the rainfall, even picking up more moisture from the Chesapeake Bay and dumping it inland. The other warning for Baltimore City and County is still in effect as mentioned in this report.
Is this rain ahead of schedule? Earlier I suggested the heaviest rain after 3 PM. This obviously arrive before that. See the Marine Warning image I posted on Facebook when this first developed. Here is the latest HRRR Model Simulated Radar that might be an hour or two behind the real event. So adjust that accordingly. After this wave, there will be a break for a few hours. Then we watch one last rain cluster arrive from Virginia for later tonight. This should be done before daybreak Friday.
