Friday August 6 2021

A nice summer day today brings back sunshine and warming temps for most of our region.  But clouds will return to start the weekend with rain over the beaches.

Then, a shift in the jet stream will set up a big heat wave for most of next week.  Pardon my personal perspective on this, as it will impact my Maryland Trek team.  We have safety plans in place, and will highlight them along the way.

Morning Surface Weather

High Pressure has helped to push that coastal system farther east, but we are not in the clear yet.  More clouds will roll in and dominate Saturday. The rain is more likely in southern Maryland and the beaches, which could last into Sunday morning.

Then, one of the biggest heat waves of the summer next week.

Radar Simulation: Saturday 12 PM to Sunday 2 PM

The next chance for steady rain will be at the beaches. However showers will clip Southern Maryland and Delmarva late in the day and at night.

This may take until lunchtime Sunday to clear the beaches.

Sunshine State Of Mind

I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.

This was designed by Shannon Berk and we will be wearing it through spring and to the beach.

Double Benefit: Proceeds will be split between our nonprofit Just In Power Kids and the development of my new weather website. That has been scheduled to be ready to launch in May.
