Heat waves are a staple of the summer in the Mid Atlantic US. This one may be considered our first of the season, and it arriving a little late. Simply put, high temperatures will be in the 90s for the next 5 days.
Water Vapor Satellite Loop
The most notable feature here is at the bottom of the view. That circulation heading towards the Southeast US coast looks impressive. But the National Hurricane Center only gives it a 20% chance for development. However, that might get caught the larger pattern and play a role in our storms later in the week ahead.
While our humidity will increase, along with discomfort and pollution levels, not all days will spark storms. It also get’s harder to challenge records, compared to all the other heat waves of the past.
Below I have a simple comparison of record highs for Baltimore and the outlook for the week ahead.

Sunshine State Of Mind
I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
This was designed by Shannon Berk and we will be wearing it through spring and to the beach.
Double Benefit: Proceeds will be split between our nonprofit Just In Power Kids and the development of my new weather website. That has been scheduled to be ready to launch in May.
