The weekend is here, summer heat is back, and we have our first named tropical storm of the Atlantic season. At 5 AM Tropical Storm Ana formed just north of Bermuda, the first named storm of the Atlantic season and it has 45 mph sustained winds.
Hurricane Season does not officially begin until June 1, but there has been a trend to see systems one or two weeks earlier. Well, here we are.

While has been ‘backing’ to the west, it appears the circulation will be wondering back out in to the open Atlantic.

Morning Surface Weather
It is looking like summer with High Pressure overhead, but we will have clouds mixing in. You can see the upper air flow in the satellite loop above.
This will help mitigate how warm we can get, but also may bring in some isolated thunderstorms this afternoon.
Saturday 12 PM to Midnight
I have been watching this closely for a few area graduations.
A few isolated pop up sprinkles could begin by 1 PM in northern Maryland and near the PA line.
A 30% chance of thunderstorms after 4 PM.

Sunshine State Of Mind
I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
This was designed by Shannon Berk and we will be wearing it through spring and to the beach.
Double Benefit: Proceeds will be split between our nonprofit Just In Power Kids and the development of my new weather website. That has been scheduled to be ready to launch in May.
