The severe weather outlook for today from the NOAA Storm Prediction Center highlights the Carolinas. We will have a wet day starting with heavy rain, and perhaps some thunder later this afternoon and evening.
Severe Storm Outlook
- The Enhanced to Moderate risk regions are where it is most likely to get large hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes.
- Marginal Risk includes southern Maryland and Delmarva. It is most likely that just strong storms with thunder and gusty winds pass through. But there may be one cell with severe limits reached.
- Most of our region will get steady, heavy rain. Some cells later today could produce thunder.
Morning Surface Weather
The rain has moved in and temperatures are in the mid 40s. This will be a chilly rain through early afternoon. Then scattered showers and some storms mid afternoon and tonight.
The Primary Low Pressure will be passing through tonight, so we have a lot to pass through our region. Total rain expected is between 1 to 2 inches by Friday.
Storm Headlines:
- Morning to Early Afternoon: Steady Moderate To Heavy Rain
- Evening: Showers and Some Thunderstorms.
- Friday Morning: Brief band of snow. Some Slush On Grass
- Friday Afternoon: Wind Advisory Along The Coast

The models are breaking this thing up, but if we see snow falling it will most likely be early morning, then passing south mid day.
Friday Temperatures
Temps may briefly drop cold enough for some areas to get falling snow to lay on the grass. Roads will remain wet.
Temperature Outlook
Chilly, but seasonal pattern in place. The next warm up appears to begin by the end of next week.
