November 1 Weather Ravens Rain And Snow Timeline

Welcome to a brand new month and early taste of winter. Today is the big Ravens game hosting the Steelers and a few lucky fans.  Rain will move through for a few hours, then followed by break and one more band of showers with a strong cold front.

Snow will fall in the mountains tonight, and we all feel the wind chill tomorrow. But, a big warm up will return later this week.

What follows will be the coldest air of the season and first snow for western Maryland.  I wanted to start with this and show you why I will be heading to Garrett County this evening to chase the snow.

First, Our Rain

Heavier rain will last only a few hours. More will fall south and east of Baltimore. But this will impact the Ravens game.

The cold front will arrive later in the afternoon.  This will open up the snow in western Maryland.

 

Temperatures Overnight

 

SNOW

Heavy snow will fall in the mountains.  This will be from cold air over The Great Lakes. A few inches are possible there. I will be there to show you.

Often they only fall on the other side of the mountains and dry out. But some flurries could reach the colder suburbs.

 

Upper Level Support

The vorticity is spin aloft that can help enhance the showers east of the mountains. Here we see what could bring flurries at daybreak Monday west and north of Baltimore.

 

Snow Total

Computer models often have a hard time with Lake Effect Snow.  The Winter Weather Advisory I showed above is for 3 to 5 inches to fall in Garrett County, MD and West Virginia.
