Frost Advisory Monday Morning As Summer End Quick Look At Warming Week

Once again The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for southern Pennsylvania and Western Maryland. This is the same region under the advisory for earlier today. But we had frost in parts of central Maryland this morning, while BWI posted a tied record low temperature for Baltimore.

After tying the record low at 42ºF (1952 and 1959), Baltimore hit a high of 69ºF this afternoon. The dry air and sunshine helped the quick warm up. Well, it’s likely to NOT be another record for BWI Monday. That mark is 37ºF (1956 and 1962), but you could have frost again inland if you saw some this morning.

This is will be the last full day of summer, but we begin a nice warm up during the week. Here’s a quick look:

Frederick and Carroll Counties in Maryland have been added to this advisory.

Forecast Lows

Model guidance often broad brushes the region, but there are many sheltered valleys that can drop a few degrees colder. We saw plenty of areas in the mid to lower 30s this morning. That could happen again for the same areas, within a few degrees.

Climate For September 21 in Baltimore

High: Normal = 76ºF; Record = 96ºF in 1895 and 1931

Normal Low: 56ºF; Record 37ºF in 1956 and 1962
