Thursday August 20 2020
This morning began cool with a hint of autumn as some inland places began in the 40s and 50s. It will be a sunny and warm day, but a lot of action is on the way.
Our local outlook brings the increase of showers and thunderstorms more likely on Saturday. The tropical outlook shows two storms that may get named by the end of the weekend. They are currently labeled by the National Hurricane Center Tropical Depression (T.D.) 13 and Invest 97 L. Both could reach the US next week.
An early look at that tropical forecast is below.
Morning Set Up
High Pressure has given us a clear and cool start. The old front is stalled along the coast with Low Pressure forming in the Carolinas. Thunderstorms will remain well to our south today, but try to return by this weekend.

Storm Forecast
- Central/Metro Region: Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon bring the best chance for storms.
- Mountains: The weather will be more active starting today.
- Beaches: The best chance for afternoon storms will be Saturday.
Tropical Outlook
Two storms are on the verge of being named. Tropical Depression 13 is still in the open Atlantic, and will cross the Caribbean, with a track possibly to south Florida. The other storm labeled Invest97L in the Caribbean, appears to be tracking to the central Gulf.
Tropical Forecast Snapshot: Monday Morning
If TD 13 gets named first, it will be Laura. The other storm in the Caribbean would be Marco.

For now this looks like a South Florida event, then curving into the Panhandle and up to the Mid Atlantic US as shown above.
Invest 97L
As of now this looks like a Mexico: Yucatan Peninsula then western US Gulf Coast track.
