August 6 Weather After Morning Storm More May Turn Severe Afternoon Through Tonight

Many people woke up early with lightning and thunder rolling through central Maryland. Many severe thunderstorm warnings were issued, which is rare in the morning. This is part of a front that is draped across the region and it will provide the more storms this afternoon after 3 PM to midnight.

There were severe thunderstorm warnings this morning. That’s a hint that the storms later today may also produce local flooding rain, dangerous lightning, and large hail.

This front is the focus for the storms, and Low Pressure to the south will move along it adding more energy.  This boundary is now expected to be a little farther north, which will allow temps to be warmer that I showed in my report last night.
