Monday August 3 2020
The Tropical Storm Warning has been expanded to include more of central Maryland. This now includes Carroll, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. The warning means tropical storm conditions with sustained winds over 39 mph are expected in less than 24 hours. In addition to winds, a wider area is under a Flash Flood Watch, and storm surge is expected on the beaches. All the info is below.
It is likely there will be tree damage and power outages. Now is time to secure outdoor furniture and stock up on supplies, with emphasis on batteries.
We built new interactive weather pages. Please see the links below. It’s phase one but we rushed to get them ready for you ahead of the storm.
Tropical Storm Warning
This is given within 24 hours of the storm to allow for preparation.
Wind Forecast
The Wind Gust is a peak between 3 and 10 seconds. It is forecast to possibly reach 60 mph across Baltimore and along the I-95 corridor. Winds should be lower farther from the center. But still over 40 to 50 mph in the warning zone inland.
