We just finished the hottest month on record in Baltimore with the coolest day of that month. No rest for the weary, as the humidity is still with us and we have one more very hot day this weekend. In between a few scattered showers and storms.
All eyes on Hurricane Isaias, which will impact Florida this weekend, then head up the coast. Below is the latest info and update on the storm track. I will follow up with a more detailed local look for our region in my next post.
Morning Set Up
Quick Cast:
- Today: Muggy, Scattered shower. Highs in the 80s
- Overnight: Band of showers into early Sunday. Muggy lows in the 70s
- Sunday: Hot Again! 90s, with scattered storms later in the day north of Baltimore. Then at night in metro areas.
- Isaias: Should be a down to a Tropical Storm when it arrives with rain Tuesday.

About That Forecast Up The East Coast…
The overnight models did shift back east a little, and I expect it may a little more.
It’s important to note that if this makes landfall in North Carolina, it will lost intensity inland. This forecast track could bring heavy rain to Maryland, but the winds will NOT be hurricane force.
Closer Look
The ‘official’ track from the National Hurricane Center takes the core of the Low east of Ocean City. There is still a wide ‘cone of uncertainty’. This is in part due to some models still passing the storm to our west.
Model Comparison
The European and GFS Models are tracking the low to the west, but the timing is way off. This shows the lack of agreement still.

Back To The National Hurricane Center Forecast
The core of the Hurricane is expected to pass east of Florida, then inland across North Carolina. At this point it should weaken to a Tropical Storm.
Wind Forecast
This shows a 30% chance for Tropical Storm Winds for Ocean City (on Tuesday).
