Happy Mother’s Day and we all get a gift. After setting two cold records yesterday along with rare snow flurries, today will be quiet and mild. We are still in the grip of an unseasonably cold weather pattern. But today will be a break before one last hit of chill to start the work week. Good news on the way by next weekend when temperatures will get back to the 70s and maybe even 80ºF.
It has been chilly, but not as cold as yesterday.
Normal High in Baltimore = 72ºF. Today will be almost 10 degrees below that.
It will be cooler by the Chesapeake Bay and inland where temps may remain in the upper 50s.
Sunset is at 8:08 PM
Clipper On The Way
This quick moving system will bring rain and some more snow to the mountains. Scattered showers locally, but the northwest winds will pick up keeping temps down. Monday afternoon and Tuesday.
The morning may begin with a fresh coating of snow in Garrett County Maryland and the nearby mountains. We will only have isolated showers in metro areas and east. But the colder winds will increase during the day.
Winds will increase from the Northwest between 20 to 30 mph
Temperatures will peak early in the afternoon. Once the winds increase, the temps will drop.
We may have one more threat of frost on Tuesday morning. Then we should turn the corner! By the end of the week and next weekend, temps will climb back above normal. While this model shows upper 70s, often we end up warmer. I expect we will see 80 degrees in at least a few local reporting stations.
