Thursday April 29 2020
A slow moving storm is heading our way and it is strong. Today winds will increase with gusts to 30 mph, but temps should get close to 70 for most of the region. Tomorrow, a line of heavy rain will crawl across the region bringing between 1 to 3 inches of rain. Flooding is possible from the heavy rain on soggy soil AND from winds sloshing the water up the Chesapeake Bay.
The good news: This weekend should be warmer.
Weather Alerts:
Excessive Rainfall
Chance for rain to produce Flash Flooding. This is for too much rain in a short period of time.
Flood Watch
This is more widespread from heavy rain between 1 to 3 inches.
Coastal Flood Watch/Advisory
This is for winds from the southeast pushing water up the Chesapeake Bay. It will slosh to the western shore. This wind will inhibit low tides from moving out, then making the next high tide even higher.
Weather Set Up
Water Vapor Satellite Loop: The storm is very slow moving with a very deep trough
This Afternoon
Strong Winds gust up to 30 mph. This will be from the east to southeast. It will be responsible for the flood risk on the Bay, and also pumping in warmer air and moisture.
