Thursday April 9 2020

I squeezed all I could in the title of this post because we will be squeezing a lot of weather into the next two days.  After this morning’s rain, we still have one more round of possible thunderstorms with a strong cold front. There is a risk of some storms turning severe with large hail and damaging wind.

The cold air will bring widespread winds up to 50 mph this afternoon.  That cold air will bring snow to the mountains, and perhaps some locals flurries overnight.

As for frost, that could be widespread Saturday morning, with some inland areas getting a hard freeze.

Severe Storm Risk

Chance for large hail and winds gusting (in storm cells) over 58 mph. See the maps below.

Wind Advisory

Widespread winds (even without a storm cell) with and behind the cold front may reach up top 50 mph. See maps below.

Quick Cast:

  • Today: A few thunderstorms may turn severe, then windy and cooler afternoon.
  • Friday: Morning Snow in the mountains.
  • Saturday: Morning Frost and Freeze Inland.
