Monday March 2 2020

Mild air is moving in this morning, but a cold pocket is hanging over parts of the area.  The rain this morning has been confined to Pennsylvania, but more showers will spread in later today. This latest system will bring the bulk of the impact on Tuesday with showers and some evening rumbles of thunder.  After two days into the 60s, we will gradually get into colder air later in the week.

End of Week Storm: This is worth watching. As of now we expect rain that could end with flakes inland. But a Gulf Coast system will phase with the northern branch of the jet to build a larger coastal Low. Any change in timing can get interesting. See the set up below.

Trivia for the day:  Today is the first day of the year with sunset at 6 PM

Looking Ahead:

We need to watch the development of this next Gulf storm. It will phase with colder air to develop a larger coastal system. The timing now suggests it might end with some flakes inland, but produce heavier snow for New England. Any change in the timing could get interesting…
