Saturday February 1 2020

Do you recall all the talk this week about two systems that were to miss phasing by 12 hours today? Here they are! One brought us rain Friday evening, mixed with some snow on the western and northern edge of our region. The leftover moisture has developed thick fog. A lot of our region is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 AM. Some spots below freezing are worth watching for ice on roads.

The second piece of energy will arrive this afternoon with rain and snow showers. There could be enough for a coating, mainly on the grass, in our colder northern suburbs.   One last piece will try to bring a band of flurries or snow showers Sunday afternoon, but that should not impact your Super Bowl travel plans, with the exception of Western Maryland where a few fresh inches may fall on the mountains.

Note: Southern Florida will have rain storms that could turn severe for the festivities around Miami. The weather will clear for the big game Sunday.

Dense Fog Advisory

Temperatures

Will you have icy ground form freezing fog? Most likely not since the ground has been warm. However, there could be ice on elevated surfaces such as decks, stairs, and bridges or overpasses. Plus some to scrape off of your car. Please use caution until 9 AM

Afternoon High Temperatures

Where snow falls, temps should remain above freezing. So any stickage would be limited to the grass.

Evening

Sunday Morning

Some wet ground might have a chance to ice up overnight in the normally colder inland suburbs west and north of the city/Bay.

Sunday Afternoon

A round of flurries or snow showers will pass through the northern areas. Once again, temps should be above freezing, so stickage would be confined to the grass while roads remain mostly wet.

Temperature Outlook

Near record warmth on Monday. The temps have a chance to be in the 60s (warmer than the modeling shows).

Baltimore’s record on Monday Feb 3 = 66ºF in 1932
