Friday December 13 2019
It is Friday the 13th and fresh off a Ravens victory in Baltimore. The good news is that the radar has been quiet as of 6 AM, and the risk of any ice will be confined well west in the hills and mountains. There will be some heavy rain tonight into Saturday, then another event starting with snow and ice on Monday. First, let’s deal with the risk of icing in the Winter Weather Advisory Zone.
Ice Onset Timing
This graphic from The National Weather Service highlights the start time for any freezing rain or icing. There may be some drizzle that is not shown on radar, so I would still be cautious in western Montgomery, Howard, and Carroll Counties, in Maryland until 9 or 10 AM
Winter Weather Advisory
This goes through 3 PM in Maryland. The initial icing may be a four hours of a light glaze the could include parts of Carroll and Frederick County. But mostly along the I-81 corridor and westward through the afternoon.
