Friday November 29 2019

The colder weather has arrived on schedule with Thanksgiving weekend, but now we have to watch a storm that may bring us a taste of winter Sunday morning and Monday morning. There is still some inconsistency with the modeling, but there are some high confidence parts of this forecast worth considering if you are traveling north of Baltimore. But as is often the case this time of year, the weather is quiet now as the storm is taking shape far to our west.

Weather Headlines

  • Friday/Saturday: Cool And Dry
  • Sunday Morning: Freezing Rain Possible (west and north of cities)
  • Sunday Afternoon: Ravens Game Rain (40s)
  • Sunday Storm: Ice Storm North PA to Poconos and Snow metro New York to New England
  • Monday Morning: Some Snow Mixed Inland Suburbs

Sunday Storm
There will be a storm and it will be cold and wet for the Ravens game. Travel near New York and New England will get icy and snowy. The Giants Game may have snow, but it’s a shame Patriots will be in Houston as snow will be flying pretty hard in eastern New England.
Locally: The modeling is still not doing the best job showing the ice potential consistently. I will make a detailed map tomorrow.

European Model —> slider
This display is very different than the slider I posted last night. The flip flop may be a function of the timing of the model… If so, then it will flip again to look more icy with the next run (available this afternoon).
I’ve added in the region I believe should still be prepared for potential morning ice.
It will be wet in Baltimore for the Ravens AND wintry well north for travel back home

Monday Morning
The back edge of the developing storm is likely to bring in colder air aloft for snow showers in the northern part of our region.  Compare the temperatures below. The freezing region will be marginal, so stickage is in question. I will have more info on this over the weekend. But, PA schools will be closed Monday. Impact on Maryland schools appears to be slim at this time.

NEW FITF GEAR THIS YEAR

  • Thanks to Shannon (weather wife) who wanted to bring these hats to life.  *Mustard is her favorite color
  • The Maryland Hoodie is high quality and a new way to show off our love of Snow and State.
  • The T-shirt… Something you may find familiar. Why just a T? Because many schools I visit have the heat on high for faculty and staff. But you can put a long sleeve underneath for cool look.  I will have wifey model these soon 🙂
